Batik Lintang explains they have actively participated in workshops and exhibitions during an exclusive interview in Malang on May 15, 2024.
Malang, May 15th, 2024 – Batik Lintang, a renowned home industry batik business, continues its journey in seeking innovation and quality improvement. In an exclusive interview on Wednesday (15/5/2024), Ita Fitriyah (46), the founder of Batik Lintang, revealed that active participation in workshops and exhibitions is one of the main strategies of this small and medium enterprise (SME).
“Participating in exhibitions is a crucial part of our marketing strategy. It’s a form of marketing where we meet face-to-face with people, communities, and new customers,” Ita said. She added that exhibitions provide Batik Lintang with the opportunity to launch new creations and directly interact with consumers.
In addition to exhibitions, Batik Lintang is also actively attending various national-scale workshops, such as those organized by the Dewan Kerajinan Nasional (Dekranas) and several ministries like the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Ita explained that these workshops provide new insights into batik-making techniques, new tools, and market understanding that helps them in directing product development.
“We see workshops as opportunities to expand our knowledge, interact with craftsmen from other regions, and gain inspiration for further innovation,” Ita explained.
However, it is not easy for Batik Lintang to remain active in workshops and exhibitions. One of the main challenges faced during exhibitions is product availability. “We need a lot of products, but our human resources are still limited. We often face difficulties in maintaining product availability, especially during exhibitions,” Ita said. Nevertheless, they adhere to the principle that every product must be their creation, emphasizing the importance of independence in maintaining Batik Lintang’s character.
Ita stated that workshops significantly contribute to enhancing quality and innovation in the batik industry as a whole. “We discover new techniques, and innovative tools, and share experiences with craftsmen from various regions,” she said. “This helps in improving the quality of our human resources and broadening our understanding of the batik industry as a whole.”
Batik Lintang continues innovating through active participation in workshops and exhibitions. Ita emphasized that they are not only enriching their knowledge but also committed to maintaining the quality and unique character of Batik Lintang’s products.
